The Texas Tech men’s and women’s cross country programs were represented with eight student-athletes on the Academic All-Big 12 Cross Country team, the league office announced Tuesday.
The men’s team had four student-athletes receive first team honors as sophomore Brendan Devlin (Philosophy), junior Kade Parker (Mechanical Engineering), sophomore Reid Strong (Biology) and junior Julien Valentino (Civil Engineering) all posted grade point averages between 3.2 and 4.0.
The women’s squad had three student-athletes garner first-team honors while senior Devin Bailey (Nutritional Sciences), senior Purity Biwott (Nursing) and senior Caroline Jepleting (Nursing) all made the list while sophomore Chelsea Scott (Business Administration) received second team.
The men’s and women’s teams are now preparing for the Big 12 Championships that are scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 29, in College Station, at the Pebble Creek Country Club.
